I am sure everybody wonders what’s new in the new iPhone. After what feels like a long wait (because it’s iPhone we are talking about), Apple has finally revealed iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. So, what is really new in the “new iPhone”?
“The only thing that has changed with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus is everything,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. Apple claims that the ‘S’ versions could surpass the record-breaking sales of iPhone 6 (released 2014).
The new 6S and 6S Plus look the same as their predecessors but Apple has always worked on the transformations that’s underneath, from cameras to fast processors and memory. Technologies like the touchscreen and the vibration engine have been updated, and the new iPhone is constructed from an entirely new material – 7000 Series Aluminum Shell.
The exterior may look the exact same as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus, but the new iPhones are made from a 7000 Series aluminum alloy, surely making them stronger and more durable than the old 6000 Series which has solved the bendgate problem.
The new iPhones are powered by the new next generation A9 processors. The CPU tasks are 70% faster and the GPU tasks are 90% faster than the A8 processor used in last year iPhones. The A9 chip comes with new built-in M9 coprocessor, which captures motion based data from accelerometer, compass, and gyroscope for Apple’s health and fitness features. The M9 processors also allows the device to be powered all the time helping Apple to launch the “Hey Siri” feature to activate Siri vocally, even when the iPhone is not plugged into a power source. The new processor is fast, impressive and energy efficient.
3D FORCE TOUCH:
The biggest change on iphone 5 to iphone 5s was the fingerprint scanner protection. On this new generation of the iPhone, the biggest change is the 3D Force Touch feature. Apple says it is an entirely new way to interact with your phone. Well, it kinda is. We tap, we swipe, and we pinch, now what more? How about “Pressing a little harder and things start to happen”? We have seen the pressure sensitive touch mostly on drawing apps before, but Apple has made the features support directly to its UI. The new Force touch is best for getting a little preview of what’s next. This logic what “preview what’s next” comes into apps like Messages, Mail, Safari, Videos etc. Apple has introduced several new terms, “pop” and “peek”. You can hard-press the app and the phone automatically understands to get a “peek” window which shows the preview of what’s inside or you could use the “pop” to create shortcuts or using quick actions.
iPhone 6s also provides you with responsive feedback in the form of subtle taps, letting you know that it’s sensing the pressure you’re applying.
The new 3D Touch Feature is implemented on keyboard too – hard-press and the keypad will turn into a trackpad. There are other random things the new Touch can do but what I really fancy is the “Live Photos” on the iphone. This is Apple’s new way to bring the picture into life by recording half or about a second video before and after you click a picture. Then, you can 3D Touch to any photo to view the clip. It does actually makes the photos special.
The most popular camera in the world has finally upgraded. The 12 MP rear iSlight camera is a magnificent update from its prior 8 MP. Apple ensures that the increase in megapixels has not degraded the image quality like artifacts, color bleeding, or noise, all thanks to “Deep Trench Isolation” and the accurate placement of color filters. Not just the megapixels, but the new iPhone also comes with state-of-the-art sensor, advanced pixel technology and a new image single processor for noise reduction and enhanced tone mapping. The iPhone 6S Plus also comes with Optical Image Stabilization.
Apple has finally done something for the iPhone selfie lovers and updated the front camera to 5MP making pictures crisper and detailed than ever using the True Tone Retina Flash. The Retina Flash causes the display to flash three times brighter than the standard display (using a custom display chip) just before a picture is snapped, improving photos in low-light.
For the first time, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus can capture 4K videos at 30FPS. The feature is also available on 240FPS Slow motion videos and Time-Lapse videos supported further by new stabilization features. You can also take 8 MP still photos while taking 4K videos, all at the same time.
The Rose Gold Color: You just can’t deny this color looks great. However, the phone also comes in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray colors.
Touch ID: The new iPhones runs on second generation Touch ID technology making fingerprint recognition 2x faster. The feature is also used to verify Apple Pay payments.
It’s surprising to know that the wifi speed of these devices can reach up to 866 MB/s which is twice as compared to iphone 6 and 6s. This device supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
These devices are included with Bluetooth 4.2 Technology.
With the new LTE technology, iPhone 6s and 6s plus are twice as fast as compared to 6 and 6 plus on data connection, giving maximum speed upto 300MB/s
Fortunately, there is an nfc chip on both iphone 6s and 6s plus that allows two devices to work with Apple Pay
In the UK, the iPhone 6S costs £539 (16GB), £619 (64GB) and £699 (128GB). The iPhone 6S Plus comes at £619, £699 and £789, respectively.
The iPhone is awesome!! And as they say, if you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have an iPhone.
