Nexus 6P Announced by Google and Huawei

Google has announced the new Nexus 6P on its latest Google Press Event on 29th September. Along with the 6P, google has also announced the Nexus 5X . Nexus 6P, designed and manufactured by Huawei is more of a successor to the Nexus 6 last year.
The new Nexus comes with 5.7 inch WQHD display with dimensions 159.3 X 77.8 X 7.3 mm and weighs only 178 g. The phone screen is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and oleo phobic coating. Just like the Nexus 5X, the security focus is improved with a fingerprint scanner for Android Pay and Google Play on the back just below the camera to suit with the way you naturally hold the phone.
The Nexus 6P brings a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with Adreno 430 GPU and Quad-core 1.55 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A57 with 3GB of RAM. The phone is well backed up with its 3450 mAh battery and also has type C reversible connector with fast charging.

Nexus 6P wireless charging
The phone was expected to have wireless charging and many burning questions were raised by here’s what Google had to say about it.

We added Qi wireless charging starting with N4 because plugging in USB micro B was such a hassle! (Which way is up!?) With this year’s Nexii, we support USB Type-C which has a reversible connector so there’s no more guessing. AND it charges incredibly swiftly: 1% to 100% in 97 mins on the 6P for example (the first ~45 mins of charging is especially fast). Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness). So, ease of plugging in + fast charging + optimizing for thinness made us double down on Type-C instead of wireless!

The main attraction for the Nexus 6P this time seems to be the camera performance, which has never been that good on Nexus devices. Google has given answers to all the criticisms and build a higher quality 12 MP rear camera with comes with 1.55 micron pixels, which roughly is equivalent to a 1/2.3” Sony sensor. Google claimed that the Nexus Camera is able to take best selfies and low light images.

Nexus 6P camera comparision

These images on the launch event clearly shows that the Nexus 6P has a better camera on darker environments where the phone has captured more light and has more natural colors compared to its predecessor and the new iPhone 6s Plus. The front camera of the device is 8MP. Google announced that both Nexus 5X and 6P can capture slow-motion videos at 120fps and 240fps respectively.
The new Nexus phone has dual front-facing stereo speakers with 3 microphones (2 front, 1 rear) with noise cancellation. Nexus 6P comes on three options to choose from – 32/64/128 GB.
